Failure Analysis & Redesign of Cracked Conveyor Ductwork

Failure Analysis was Performed on Reinforced Conveyor Ductwork that had Cracked Shortly after Being Placed in Service. The results determined that the ductwork had been overly-constrained. Thermal breathing and bending due to a thermal gradient that existed between the top and bottom surfaces were constrained, creating high thermal stresses.

We subsequently redesigned the ductwork reinforcements and the structural supports.
