Petrochemical Consulting

O’Donnell Consulting provides engineering support to the petrochemical industry, including structural analysis, metallurgical services, weld consulting, corrosion and risk analysis – to minimize equipment total cost of ownership.

We have assisted in the design, startup, commissioning, safety and asset integrity analysis phases of chemical plants, refineries and other facilities.

We were asked to investigate the structural analysis of a vessel subjected to a vacuum loading at elevated temperature – to determine instantaneous (linear and non-linear) buckling and long term creep buckling responses.

To see more of the projects we have worked on, see Portfolio.

Recent Projects

Our services include design & analysis, materials and weld consulting. Our weld engineering services include joint analysis, procedure development and qualification, and assisting in non-conformance and Code compliance. We also provide Fitness for Service evaluations to extend the life of equipment.

We provide engineering assistance to keep you in accordance with Codes and Standards including API, AWS, WRC, NRC & ASME.

A few examples include:

  • Steam Generators
  • Superheaters
  • Evaporators
  • Tanks

Metallurgical Evaluations

We offer a full spectrum of metallurgical testing including corrosion investigations, surface condition studies, mechanical and fracture mechanics testing.

Fatigue/ Failure Analysis

Fatigue is one of the key contributing factors to the degradation of aging components. We investigate the factors that contribute to structural failure – and provide practical solutions to get you fully operational.

Learn from the experience of others. Especially when one such “other” is Dr. William O’Donnell, PhD, PE, Founder and President of O’Donnell Consulting Engineers, Inc., and ASME “Engineer of the Year” – his 50 years of experience in analysis of components including fatigue and fracture safety evaluations and failure analyses are now comprised in this volume.

If you are interested learning more in Engineering Design, Manufacturing and Construction, as well as Failure Analysis, then this book is a must have!
